The son of a marathi novelist, who once made his debut as a starry eyed 16 year old has today made the whole of India proud. What started as a journey of a humble son of a middle class family has turned into what may be called arguably India's greatest success story.
The number of runs he scored over the years, the sponsorship deals, the championships, the man of the match awards, the batting records have all come in the past 21 years of plaing...Yes he has played for that long.....but there is one thing that has not deserted him...It is his humility...The same humility he has had for as long as he can remember....Be it a 16 year debutante against a potent pakistani attack or 38 year old man who has just made his countrys' Billions proud again!
This humility alongwith his respect & love for the game called cricket has made Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar the master that he is today...
Every single time that he is on field,a billion people expect him to score a 100 runs...too much pressure on one man...Any other lesser mortal would have snapped or would have given up but not this man.
Time & again he has scored, carried his team & did a lot of things which in reality is too much to expect of one man.
Yesterday on 19/12/2010 he did what only he can.......Answer a billion prayers, make a billion people smile, make them forget their daily problems so they can all unite & revel in something that makes them all proud...
Separated by cities, languages, caste, age the 100 million people of India have one man to thank.....It may be a stressed out office goer,an over worked doctor,a frustrated taxi driver....all these people would have had their bad days but when they hear that their hero Sachin Tendulkar has just scored his 50th test Century, they forget all their miseries & celebrate...running on the streets, bursting firecrackers, distributing sweets.......
because they know that SACHIN RAMESH TENDULKAR the little god man with humble beginnings is
"The reason for a Billion happy Faces!!"
